What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website stores on your device. Similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage, work in a similar way. Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) we can only use them without your consent if they are strictly necessary to provide the service you ask for. Everything else needs your permission first.
Your choice
When you first visit, we ask whether you accept analytics cookies. Accepting and rejecting are equally easy, and analytics cookies are not set unless you accept. We remember your choice for 12 months, then ask again. You can change your mind at any time:
If you withdraw consent, we stop analytics straight away and delete the analytics cookies on this site.
Strictly necessary (always on)
| Name | Type | Purpose | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| dmg_account | Cookie (secure, HTTP-only) | Keeps you signed in to your DMG account after you enter a sign-in code. Only set if you sign in. | 30 days, or until you sign out |
| dmg_cookie_consent | Local storage | Remembers your cookie choice so we do not ask on every page. | 12 months |
| dmg_reading_mode, udt_visitor_type, udt_selector_dismissed | Local or session storage | Remember settings you choose on the site, such as the summary reading mode or the industry you picked. | Until you clear them, or the end of your visit |
| udt_exit_intent_done, udt_tr_* | Session storage | Stop the same pop-up showing twice and keep page translations you asked for during your visit. | End of your visit |
| dmg_roadmap_votes | Local storage | Remembers which roadmap items you voted for so you cannot vote twice. | Until you clear it |
Payments are handled on Stripe's own pages, which set their own cookies for security and fraud prevention. See Stripe's cookie policy.
Analytics (only with your consent)
| Name | Provider | Purpose | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes visitors so we can count visits and see which pages are useful. | 2 years |
| _ga_<ID> | Google Analytics | Keeps track of your visit (session) for the same statistics. | 2 years |
Google Analytics is provided by Google Ireland Limited. We use it only for anonymous statistics, not for advertising. Data may be processed in the United States under Google's approved safeguards. See how Google uses cookies.
Controlling cookies in your browser
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site, such as account sign-in, from working.
