An illustrative story

A Week at Northvale

Most software sites show you features. We’d rather show you a week. Follow a fictional UK manufacturer from Monday to Saturday and see how our products connect along the way.

Northvale Components Ltd and its people are fictional. This is not a customer story.

    A supplier lets them down

A supplier emails Priya, Northvale’s buyer: a batch of connectors will arrive a week late. Three customer orders depend on it.

    The usual way

Priya opens four spreadsheets to work out which orders are affected and whether the second warehouse has spare stock.

    With Orbis ERP

Orbis ERP shows the affected sales orders and stock across both warehouses. Priya reallocates stock and updates the customers before 10am.

    Something is out of spec

At goods-in, Tom finds a delivery of housings that fails inspection.

    The usual way

A note goes on the pallet and an email goes to the quality inbox. Nobody is quite sure who owns the follow-up.

    With QMS

Tom raises a non-conformance in QMS with photos. A corrective action (CAPA) is opened with an owner and a due date, and stores put the batch on hold in Orbis ERP.

    The rules change

A regulatory update affecting product labelling is published. Sam, who looks after compliance, spots it over coffee.

    The usual way

Sam forwards a link to three managers and hopes someone checks the labels.

    With Regulyse

Regulyse summarises the change, links it to the obligations and policy it affects, and assigns an owner with a review date.

    Next door, a building check

Northvale’s sister company manages the residential block next to the factory. Ellie, the building manager, does the quarterly communal fire door check.

    The usual way

The checklist goes in a ring binder; last quarter’s is somewhere in a shared drive.

    With SafeThread

Ellie records the check in SafeThread with photos. A resident’s concern about a self-closer is logged and answered in the same record.

    The auditor is coming

Northvale’s certification body confirms a surveillance audit for next month. The quality lead wants to know: are we ready?

    The usual way

A weekend of chasing signatures and printing documents.

    With QMS

This week’s non-conformance, CAPA, document approvals and training records are already in one place, with a clear trail.

    Off duty — almost

Priya is also treasurer of her children’s school PTA. It’s the summer fair.

    The usual way

Cash tins, a float that never quite adds up, and a long evening with a calculator.

    With PTA Hive

Volunteers run tills on their phones with PTA Hive. At the end, each till is reconciled and the treasurer report is ready for the committee.

And if Northvale were a hospital?

Our sixth product, CareTower, gives NHS hospitals and Integrated Care Boards one control tower for patient flow, beds, discharge, waiting lists and clinical safety. It’s healthcare-only and still in development — we’re looking for a healthcare pilot partner.
